Why the frame doesn't rust, sag, or fail at the joints

Most of what separates a greenhouse that lasts fifteen years from one that fails in three comes down to four decisions the manufacturer made before it ever shipped.

Omega-profile steel, not tube

Most budget kits use round or square tube. Ours uses a 60mm omega (Ω) profile — wider than most kits on the market — which resists twisting under snow load far better than tube of the same gauge.

Zero welded joints

Every connection is bolted, not welded. Welding burns through the zinc coating and creates a rust starting point at every joint — the first place a cheap frame fails. Bolted joints keep the galvanization intact everywhere, including at the connections.

275g/m² galvanization, both sides

The steel is hot-dip galvanized to 275 grams per square meter on both faces before it's ever formed into a profile — this is what actually determines how long a steel frame lasts outdoors, not the paint on top.

1mm gauge throughout

A full 1mm of steel in every structural member, not just the main hoops. Thinner gauge is the most common place cheaper kits cut cost, and it's invisible until the first heavy snow load.

Airflow, access, and what holds it to the ground

Doors — 2 — one at each gable end

Wide, tall, double-panel doors with aluminum handles and a locking mechanism. Each door opens halfway for everyday access or fully for wheelbarrow and equipment clearance, and doubles as a through-draft vent on hot days.

Ventilation — 2 roof vents

Positioned at the ridge, opposite the rising heat from the growing bed below. Paired with both end doors open, they create a chimney effect that pulls hot, humid air out without a fan — the single biggest factor in preventing fungal disease in a closed structure.

Foundation & anchoring

10cm foundation base rail, included with every kit. Sits between the ground and the polycarbonate, so the panels never sit directly in mud, standing water, or lawn chemicals.

Ground anchor feet with cross-bracing. Driven into the soil at each upright and cross-braced for wind resistance. No concrete required — a level gravel or paver pad is recommended but optional.

Because nothing is welded or set in concrete, the entire structure can be unbolted and relocated if you move or want to reposition it for better sun exposure.

Assembly

How it goes up

A weekend, with two people and a cordless drill — no welding, no cutting polycarbonate on site.

  1. 01

    Lay out the base rail

    Square the 10cm foundation rail to your footprint and stake the corners.

  2. 02

    Raise the hoops

    Bolt the pre-formed omega-profile hoops to the base rail at marked, numbered points.

  3. 03

    Tie in the ridge and cross-bracing

    Connect the ridge beam and diagonal braces — this is what gives the frame its snow and wind rigidity.

  4. 04

    Hang the doors and fit the vents

    Both gable-end doors and the two roof vents install last, after the frame is square and true.

  5. 05

    Panel the polycarbonate

    Pre-cut panels drop into the channel and are capped — no cutting or trimming on site.

Will the 20' Glasshouse fit my yard?+

The 20' Glasshouse has a footprint of 19'8" by 8'8" (170 sq ft). We recommend leaving at least 60cm of clearance on all sides for door swing and maintenance access.

How long does assembly take?+

Most customers assemble this size in a single weekend with two people. Every component is bolted, pre-cut, and numbered — no welding, no cutting polycarbonate on site.

Does it come with a foundation?+

Yes — a 10cm foundation base rail and ground anchor feet with crossbars are included. A level gravel or paver pad is recommended but not required.

What's the warranty?+

The frame is covered by a 10-year manufacturer warranty. The polycarbonate is CE-certified and UV-stabilized.

Can it handle Canadian winters?+

The frame is 1mm galvanized steel with a 60mm bolted omega-profile, engineered for heavy snow and wind loads. It's the same core structure sold into harsh European winters before we brought it to Canada.

“I want to be fair here - the greenhouse itself once assembled is decent. But my order shipped to the wrong regional depot and I spent almost three weeks on the phone/email sorting it out before it actually got to my house. By the time it arrived I'd basically lost the beginning of my planting season. If you're not in a hurry it's probably fine, but the logistics side needs work. Might update this if a future order goes smoother.”
